Looks like all those hours playing Fallout are about to pay off! Now, where'd I put my Fat Man?

And who cares about Avatar 2 if Pandora is heaven?

What a load of nutters.
I'll be sitting here on the 22nd, laughing. If anyone does think the world will end, then by all means please send me all your money though .

I have a wedding to go to that day. I wonder how interesting it will get.

Living the dream eh?

Still, not very good consolation this is. My birthday's after that. :/
Good excuse for getting people to do more living though.

About 15 years ago, an apocalyptic japanese sort declared he knew the end was coming, so he got a bunch of his nutso followers to join him in Texas for the rapture.
It didn't happen.
In the late 1870's, a rampantly apocalyptic time, some doof read the bible too much said he found the date of the end in the numbers, (unsurprisingly, during his lifetime; isn't it always?) so he got a number of followers to join him in upstate New York to await the rapture.
It didn't happen.
As far back as the time of Christ, there was a whacko group known as the essenes who swore the foresaw the end, so they fled the cities like jerusalem and huddled in cave in the friggin' desert to await the impending end.
It didn't happen.
Any one who "knows" the end is nigh is a NUT and anyone who follows them are a DOUBLE NUT.

That's why I don't believe in religious end of the world type dates.

Matthew 24:36 : "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

They all conveniently seem to miss this...?

That's what always springs to my mind, but [the guys saying that this is the end are quoting this:

Amos 3:7 - "Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets."

So supposedly the time has come when mortal men can learn of the date themselves, if I'm reading that correctly.

I wish I knew just how many Christians take this belief - the end begins Saturday - seriously.

I guess that most people will... however, there's a chance that some sect or cult leaders might take this opportunity to stage a mass suicide and take a lot of brainwashed followers with them.

What a waste of lives... this is sad... very sad only.

Well, it's all as meaningless as the rest. After all, they all already pick and choose what to follow (and a good thing too, that stonings and slavery, among others have been eliminated).

Quite true - but then again, people who are that easily led will usually do something anyway, there isn't much that can be done to stop that with things the way they are now. Maybe in the future though...

For how many times the world should already end? 100 times? 1000 times?
