Yeah its very interesting stuff he is working on. And i think there is a niche market for reasonably low priced yet pretty accurate mocap solutions.
I will try some simple form of motion capture later myself. For facial animation and perhaps body aswell. If its too much hassle ill stick to rotoscoping tho, im going to need something like it anyway
Motion capture wise i found a few very cool and free/cheap solutions.
Some use microsofts kinect camera and im looking if i can get one cheap
(dont have an xbox).

In that case, do want indeed

The kinect has some amazing potential - just makes you think how improvements never stop, until we can have motion capture at home with 3D models

Well Jakes body is ready, finally!
Working eyes, teeth and mouth are added aswell.
Learned some new tricks while working on Jake's body so i had to update Neytiri aswell.
That took quite a while but she's alot more flexible now
Did some poses to see if all the old earlier stuff is still working and after some tinkering it is Now to add his facial emotes and outfit and then its done!
Below a quick pose i liked and rendered.

Thx all, you're too kind

Currently working on Jake's outfit.
you have already proven yourself as true experts here with a keen eye on the little details.
So did i get the details on Jake's loincloth right or did i miss anything?
Thx already

Well you asked for it
A quick rendered test of how the cloth dynamics are holding up.
Its actually a pretty hard to get it to behave a bit like actual cloth.
For now i think i'm close enough.
I have done cloth before on sails and capes and this is actually alot harder as its always being pushed by his body.
Spend a good part of the day on those two pieces of cloth to get right.
Good thing is i learned some new tricks on it and updated Neytiri's outfit aswell
And its looped 3 times, well its only a quick test after all.

Oh and as you might notice i removed the little bead strings.
In fast motion they collide with his skin and the cloth all the time even at pretty high settings.
Removed them from Ney's loincloth aswell. Think they are too big of a problem compared to what they add.
Too bad but im glad there gone
