Google+... what are your thoughts?

So I've been trying out Google+ for the past few days and I can see why people could like it more than facebook. It's a cleaner, more thought-out social network that seems to have looked at the problems involved with Facebook and eliminated them in G+. But, is there really enough room for another social network and will it beat its main competitor Facebook?

Well, its still too early to tell that, yeah, it looks cleaner, and so far critics have no real chance to condemn it - But sooner or later everything gets larger, more complicated and as the universal law always shows.. There is always a chance that things turn the wrong way

But anyway.. So far i like it, its clean, not the game / applications crap like it is on facebook - so far, so nice.

Haven't tried it, but I keep hearing more and more about it...through Facebook.

I just don't want to have to manage two social networking profiles. By that, I mean I don't want to have half my friends on Facebook and half on Google+.

I like it. I'm happy to be on it, whereas I was more-or-less forced to use facebook by friends who I could only reach through it (those friends seem to have moved to g+).

Exactly. Google has some challenge ahead convincing the majority of Facebook users to join Google+ and no one will join if their friends aren't on it. So while I think G+ is a great idea, it won't be an effective one.

Most will just stay on their trusted website, rather then move. And as ^ said, if their friends aren't on it, they won't bother.

I'm not really a fan of facebook, (never had an account), so I'm hesitant to try out G+...however I like google so maybe.

Honestly though in these kinds of situations, where facebook has almost everyone, G+ doesn't stand much of a chance.

That's how it was for myspace before as well. Anyway, I had an invite so I made an account, but since I know a total of three people on it, I don't really check it for now. I definitely will not be social networking on more than one site, so if I really start using G+, it'll be goodbye FB.

but back to the topic.. at least i see people moving from facebook already a lot.. mostly from the free underground music scene, so perhaps if google+ earns enough fame.. and a lot people know about google in general - this leads in the end to facebook's death or at least to a minor place?

I don't trust either that much, and the main thing with facebook is there has always been control over privacy for those intelligent enough to look for it rather than accept 'default' for everything.

I don't have google+ yet, might if I could get an invitation sent my way, but I really doubt it will be better than facebook for me, not least because I only know 2-3 people who use it, while many of my AFK friends use facebook as a main means of communication.

G+ is certainly a lot better than Facebook (though not an exact clone). Better interface and an android client that actually works. I hope people will move over from facebook.

What pisses me off is that I never entered my age in my Google profile, yet got a message saying I have to be 18+ to use the G+ beta. What's the point ..?

hmm, maybe it depends on the Android phone though. Try a HTC one next time, the fb client there is brilliant.

I've registered for g+ now, the UI seems a bit confusing to me,and things like settings aren't obvious, but I don't have anyone added there yet.
