QUOTE=apache_blanca;171876]Apache is back from the shadows (for a while) with The Food question again!

ma frapo, can we set a price limit for a meal? Say $7 (5, 6, ... 10?) a meal, and Then we decide what food fits into that. It shouldn't be bare survival, but something... erm... reasonably affordable.

I would honestly avoid any pots, pans (also meaning gas stoves), plate washing, (meaning detergents) etc. & rather opt for ready sandwiches (?), also fruit, nuts, small juices & the like. I am not a camper, & don't have the experience, but I don't want anybody to be dead (of hunger) - that will look very bad on my report! Hungry people are not fun.

So, what do you think a reasonable price / meal would be?

How will the clan be getting it all there? On a shuttle? Do they plan on getting it themselves, or is this going to be so mass buy and hall?

A great question in need of an answer.

Sounds like there are carious vehicles going out (are you still getting a van MOM's?), plus the shuttle (which has *loads* of space right now, people should sign up if they want a seat). But transport of group supplies hasn't been decided.

This doesn't sound like a problem at all. There aren't many of us anyway, so food should not actually take up that much space.

So a few people have been wondering if I'm going to make it to the meetup this year, and the answer is regretably no, I won't be able too, at least not in physical form!

It sound's wonderful though, and I am truly sorry I'll be missing out, but wishing those going, an amazing wonderful time!

Here's hoping it will become an 'annual' meetup, growing and gathering! I found this, this morning, and thinking wouldn't it be wonderful, if one day, these Avatar meetup's can be something like this.

Sorry I won't make it. I do love backcountry camping.

Have you guys come up with any activities for the time there to add value to the experience? I'm thinking along "Dead Poets Society" lines here. Reading from Walt Whitman and Thoreau, perhaps. Or there are any number of cool games to play in the wilderness to learn more about yourselves and each other.

I thought we were about 24 persons for the all-in-all camping trip (backpackers + campers)? Or maybe my info is outdated, I've been in cryo far too long...

Anyway, anybody else - apart from Alan & me - wants to chat?

Thanks for the links Alan!! I am in my RDA lab, will have a look at them later to day.

I've got to go!

According to the Roll Call list here: AvatarMeet.com there are currently 17 people signed up for the camping, with 15 at the our group campsite, and 2 elsewhere (solo or a cabin) at the Sol Duc area. We have a max capacity of 24 at the group site, single campsites in the main campground are first-come-first-served.
And there are currently 13 people signed up for the overnight backpacking trip.

If your profile hasn't been updated in a while, now is a good time to log into AvatarMeet.com and update your profile and check out that list of who else is coming also.

thanks Mikko. I've finally found the list of who's coming & what they are doing!
13 backpackers out of 17 campers?? that's a mighty number!

Pity you won't be coming Mika & Sempu but you'll be with us 'virtually'!

Activities...They are on AvatarMeet.com - Event calendar that Mikko posted ^^^^.
As for the camping trip, I see there will be Na'vi arts & crafts lessons, botany /entomology lessons, hopefully a BBQ - & I would like a singing (in Na'vi??) and / or storytelling around a campfire. Sure there'll be more ideas later on.

more later... But I definitely *thumbs up* for an Annual Meetup!

If you log-into AvatarMeet.com and then go to the "Roll Call" page: AvatarMeet.com You'll see a list of everyone that's signed up and what parts of the meetup they are attending + a few other things. If you aren't logged in, you just see the total number attending (and a handy link to log-in )

Expand Just a tad bit confooosed.

I'll hopefully be able to take some video with my iPhone from the camp and be able to upload it to the internet for people to look from the forums whilst we are there..well once we get to the hotel and can use the wi-fi. Is this what you mean?

Alan
P.S. Has anyone any thoughts of the food aspects that Apache and I started talking about all...or do folks think it is too early?

Well guys, I went to the roll cal page and saw that I was still down as showing up for all the events. I logged in, and tried to change ti to where Ateyo and I NOT going to be there, but it won't let me.
I hope that one of the admins fixes that, I still have to cancel our hotel room, but there is NO WAY that we are going to be able to afford to take such a long trip o our finances. It's just too far for us to go, and still be able to pay for building materials for our hanger home complex that we are building ourselves to save money.
