Jenny and Shirley were elephants at the same circus when Jenny was a calf, and Shirley was in her twenties. The two lived one winter together, but then were separated twenty-two years. It is very rare for elephants to display this kind of emotion in captivity, and it is probably the first time such a thing has been documented on film: Elephants Reunited After 20 Years
I don't know how many takes the narrator needed to do that without crying, but I would still be trying, especially after reading the update: NATURE . The Best of Nature - 25 years | What ever happened to Shirley and Jenny? | PBS It just reminds me that there is hope, that the evil in the world is visible by its contrast to the good, and here are good people doing the right thing, undoing some of that evil, bringing more light into the world. And that light is never brighter than when seen in the eyes of an elephant. |

Wow that's an amazing but sad story. Makes me just wanna punch the idiots that held the elephant captured and abused it all those years.

The bonds that Elephants have is so inspiring..It's amazing to think that after such a long separation they could still recognise each other..
Such a sad end to the story though, I'm sure that's why more people are against circuses using animals in their shows.
