The strawman is strong in this thread. If indigenous humans had access to our level of technology when it comes to, say weapons, they would send this rock to a nuclear winter never seen before. Humans are stupid, humans are violent, humans are ignorant, and that will not change whether you live in hi-tech society or in a one with sticks and stones.
And those who wish to be more holistic, should have born as an edible plant. As it currently stands, we aren't part of anything, we just consume stuff. |

A tad negative I think though.

Although I'd have to say that sharks normally mistake humans in wetsuits ect for seals. (similar shape and all that) They then take an exploratory bite to see if it is seal and normally when they realise that the human isn't seal they swim off..Unless they are starving, aggressive (like bull sharks) or sick then they might take what is practically gift-wrapped in front of them.
Humans can be arrogant when it comes to territory, the sea territories belong to the marine life..Sharks shouldn't have to be put down if they end up biting someone and the same thing goes for bears. There have been people who have been attacked by sharks and they've said that they knew what the risks where by going into the water and they respect all marine life, including the shark that bit them. They also advocate that the shark shouldn't be destroyed after they were bitten.

We kill animals if they're too nice (dodo, carrier pigeon etc), we kill them if they're too mean (sharks, bears, dogs etc)
I can certainly agree, something is wrong there.

True, very true. The poor dodo..didn't stand a chance without flight enabling wings.

Well the evolutionary theory says that we developed from a microscopic cell soup a long, long, long time ago. However, humankind wouldn't have genetic memories of being simple celled structures in the sea so I think it's safe to say that humankind has it's territory on the land.

I think it's odd to say man kind has been to the moon and space. Only a select few have. The fact that we've been into space doesn't really change much for me. The sun shines the same, and the Earth is still as beautiful. Maybe for some people to find beauty they need to explore the whole of the starts, galaxies, and planets. But maybe for some 1 forest is enough beauty for a life time. One doesn't need to understand it to have it be beautiful. Take the Bayaka tribe for example. In the show, one of the tribes people says they know there is more than their forest, but the way they live is enough to satisfy them. No, not everyone is satisfied by this, but some do not have a never ending thirst for more knowledge, and can be satisfied by what is around them.

To be honest, while space travel is indeed interesting I think the idea of searching for a similar planet, possibly for colonisation is an example of the top authorities looking for an easy way out instead of helping to heal the earth that we are part of.
I think we should care for our earth mother first instead of looking to explore the stars..

HNM, I'm not saying people shouldn't pursue scientific knowledge. I'm intrigued by scientific progress too. I'm just saying not everyone finds it beautiful. The people who want to pursue space travel should in my opinion. Hell, I was considering studying aeronautical engineering myself. I just think it's incorrect to say knowledge always makes things more beautiful. For me, it usually does. But there are people who don't want that knowledge, or that science. I think they should have a right to live that way. For example, for me, I enjoy learning. I watch math and physics lectures for fun in my free time. But, as much as I find them interesting, sitting in the woods with the warm sun is more beautiful; so I think it's all entirely up to oneself. You will find just as much either way.
ps: I find it kinda interesting that there are a small amount of people who still live like early homo sapiens did, w/o agriculture. Then there's a small group of people who have all the newest technologies. Then there's most people who are in between, like the range of people in 3rd world countries, to probably about where I'm at is the majority range. Idk, I think that'd be an interesting thing to study, how long it takes new technology to catch up to the rest of the world.
