The 2009 reboot Im guessing. Yeah JJ Abrams ingeniously sculpted that script to perfection. It was a major movie feat to make a successful remake of an old-time classic, hasn't really ever been done right. Plus, since the movie is set in an alternate reality, the next film doesn't have to differ from older Trek films. Clever!

the most awesome scene was the one with bulky hands and "womulans" I cracked up on that one multiple times as I kept rewinding to the "numb tongue???"

also I didn't know that Zoe was that hot

I've always known her ever since The Terminal. And she was pretty then, too.

Last was The Matrix Revolutions...

...and let me tell you, it would've been a far better experience for me had I not watched it with my family. I had to pause it every 5-30 seconds (literally) so everyone else could laugh their asses off while they paid absolutely no attention to what was just said, and then claiming, "They never explain anything!"

That film disgusted me. Only time I've ever wanted my money back when going to the cinema.

Should have guessed though, since it was JJ Abrams after all... just got to look at Lost to see the kind of stuff he does...

I personally hate Lost simply because the script was just plain random. They say that they had it planned from tge beginnng but after season 2 you can tell that it lost (that's not a pun) the logic of the story.

Being a Trekker I still think Star Trek (2009) was JJ's best creation. He balanced between impressive action scenes and the true heart of the older films - no easy feat. And when you've managed to impress the hardcore fans then you've done something incredible.

His casting of Spock and McCoy was amazing. Those two actors knew what characters they were playing and executed it brilliantly.

The reboot isn't my favourite Trek film but I really enjoy it and hope the sequel is just as impressive.

...I kinda never cared for Star Trek. I was pretty excited to see it when I first got it on DVD, since it had overwhelmingly positive reviews from practically every source I looked at.

...But after watching it I thought, "...That wasn't much." I didn't not like it, I was just a bit bored by it; so was my sister.

But then, we aren't trekkies.

...And "Lost" rocked up until Season 5, IMO. And J. J. Abrams didn't write any of the episodes for most of the seasons, he was just the creator of the show. So... don't pin Lost's weirdness on Abrams, because he had nothing to do with what happened to it.

I hated it... Spock was meh, McCoy was good... Kirk was bad. Chekhov was OK, I guess. Zoe was actually good as Uhura, although I had no idea who she was then. Neytiri is still >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Uhura though

What I really hate though is how forced it all seemed - all the references were there but it was obvious someone had gone through the script thinking 'now where can we put this in?' after watching through the original series once.
Other than that, it's just ridiculous... Instant black holes?... physics is crying now (same goes for escaping a black hole's event horizon)
Beaming several light years onto a target moving at warp? They can't do that in the 25th century...

Beyond all that... Oh look, suddenly Everyone Went to School together - lolwut. Not to mention the implication ALL of ST except ENT is non-canon now.

tl;dr: Crap film, shouldn't have been made, it's an insult to fans and an attempt to cash in. I'm ashamed it got my £8 or however much it was because I was impatient to see it because I LIKE ST, but this turned out to be a thinly disguised parody/insult. If I'd waited to hear about it, I could have saved myself an evening and some money.
It's ironic, because I would have LIKED it (although perhaps laughing at the physics fails) if it had original characters, locations and races and hadn't ruined my favourite TV series

(Also, another thing... the Klingons are my favourite ST race... and didn't feature at all apart from the Kobayashi Maru - they've featured in every other film, even if it's just Worf in the TNG ones (who is a great character though)... what makes me even more annoyed there is that apparently there were several deleted scenes with them )

Seems you've got a lot of feelings for the T.V. show that I'll never understand...

...But then, I had the same feelings when I saw the 1997 version of "The Odyssey". In that case, concerning things relating to their canon stories, I know exactly how you feel... just not with the same thing. I always thought ST was a show for geeks/nerds, and the stories are always so outrageously weird.

I've always loved Star Trek... truthfully, my favourite is TNG, with Voyager close behind... I guess I'm too young for the original series really, but I still like it... It's just not the Star Trek I grew up with that I like most... Rehashing it and in doing so, destroying both of my favourite series is just insulting.
Anyway, Picard > Kirk and the Enterprise-D and -E > the Enterprise/ Enterprise-A

As for geeks, yep... I'm a geek
I'm also into any number of other things - I guess yet another person who misunderstands the definition.

I watched Legend of the Guardians yesterday. Good movie and good story. There were a couple of flaws though. In particular, to many slow-mo matrix style action sequences! I'm fine with one or two, perhaps the climatic one but every time???

I also saw another movie. One of the worst of all time, The beast of Yucca Flats, one of the MST3K movies. UGH! Horrible, just horrible.
