Kaltxė!
I've been lurking around for a bit, and finally decided to speak up (I've always been a bit shy). I've been reading a lot over at learnnavi.org and have been (somewhat slowly) teaching myself the language. I must say, the communities both here and at learnnavi.org are thoroughly impressive

Kaltxė,
I am new here also and have been teaching myself Na'vi for the last week. I am nowhere close to chatting in Na'vi yet. For how shy I usually am it's impressive that I am even writing on this forum. Happy learning!

![]() I saw Avatar for the first time on the evening of 2 January 2012. I'd purchased the CE BluRay a couple of months earlier, but it sat on my desk unopened because I didn't have a BluRay player and didn't want to watch it on my laptop. Shortly after the holidays, I grabbed a pair of $70 BluRay players at the local Best Buy, and fired up the film on my bedroom TV. The rest, as they say, is history. I have almost never in my life had a film knock me flat on my butt like that, visually or otherwise. In short, I knew I'd found something very special, and felt kind of like an utter The next day, I started hitting El Goog to check out the fanbase, which led me both here and to learnnavi.org...and needless to say, I got knocked on my butt a few more times. I decided to pick up Na'vi as a second (non-programming) language as an intellectual challenge. So, in short, that's where I stand now. To start, I've been running through a few of the exercises in The Easiest Way to Learn Na'vi--EVER!! and am looking forward to getting into the more advanced concepts

I cannot wait either. I enjoy all of this very much. Any tips on when to start chatting in Na'vi? I know very little right now.

Wow! Irayo to all for the warm welcome, both here & in IRC
![]() I'm still working on building up the guts to drop in on LN's TeamSpeak server so I can hear Na'vi in conversation. Hopefully between that, the rather extensive set of learning materials both written & spoken, and the community both here & on LN, I'll be speaking it proficiently enough to at least not sound like a total skawng
