I've said this before, but go read some fanfics.
They can be hard to find at times, but there are some *really* great ones that don't fall into the same problems that others do. Sometimes fan-made content is the best way to ride out things like this.

Yeah, nothing really new, but still, I want the sequel to be good, so I don't mind so much.
I generally don't read fanfic because it's hard to find the one good one mixed in with the 34,534 bad/terrible ones. It's a case of Sturgeon's Law, but even more pronounced when there's no risk to making it that will filter out low quality. There is a thread at http://www.tree-of-souls.com/fan_fic...d_fanfics.html , but it's been long-neglected and there are some there that I would certainly class as bad
