China's a great place!
I mean, hey, no big deal that they've oppressed their own people along with almost entirely erasing Tibetan culture.
It's good that JC can look past that and encourage partnership with China even further.

This is very true... remember china banned the film since they realised it was potentially inspirational to oppressed people within China or those who stand to lose everything under water from one of their new dams...

I genuinely can't be happy about that.

Edit:

Cameron doesn't appear to be worried and seems content on expanding his presence in China. He's even made filming future Avatar movies in China conditional on relaxed censorship for his movies. That means his not so subtle message on resisting environmental exploitation may soon be backed by money from the Chinese government.

...now if only it actually happens.

According to some chinese people I talked with they did not entirely ban the film, they just removed the 2D version from theaters because they wanted to promote a big chinese film about Confucius instead. Avatar was still shown on 3D theaters. So it can perhaps have been more economic than ideological motifs, they simply wanted to favour their own film industry.

Regardless of that, there is no appropriate reason for James Cameron to partner with China for any reason.

Do not forget that US is involved in more armed conflicts than China and that many US companies are doing their best to destroy the world in best RDA style. Still we watch a lot of US films.

Everything has two sides.

The United States doesn't extremely oppress it's citizens.
Nor is the United States trying to wipe out the culture of any neighboring countries.
And don't even start on "destroying the world RDA style", whatever the hell that means. China is incredibly polluted from the cars the government decided to allow be driven and the factories the government allows to run.

I honestly don't see how you can give a justified, good reason for James Cameron partnering with the Chinese industry.

I wonder how many people will overlook this just because it's James Cameron.

Iknimaya was copypasted from china in Avatar 1.

What I don't exactly understand is why China would want to co-operate with JC ?

I'd buy one. And then tap my nose wisely when people asked what it was about.
