The Odyssey is the very first epic created way back before the 'Classical Greek' period by Homer, it is thought around 550 B.C. It was originally a spoken poem/story and would take days to recite. That is why, if you have read it, you may notice that a lot of the descriptions are the same, for easy memorising. For example, 'Dawn's rosy fingers crept over the horizon' is a description used a lot for sunrises.
The Iliad was also, supposedly, created by Homer but as neytirifanboy said it is such a different style. It is taken as a given, however, that Homer did create it.

It's a good story... I read it YEARS ago, when I was fairly young, although I think it was a version that made it shorter or something. I should read it properly some time.

My favorite book is "Angels and Demons" - by Dan Brown.

Normally, I don't read books very often, but this one I read two times in a row and I'm resolved to read it a third time

But I was a little bit dissapointed of the movie. It isn't so good, like it could be and that's a shame, in my opinion.

I absolutely love Dan Brown, all of his books are amazing!

What did you think of his last book (if you have read it yet)?

I'd have to say this, it's one of the most hilarious books I've ever read and it has great re-read value.

No, it's not an erotica =p.

Unfortunately, I haven't read it, until now. So far, I only read "Angels and Demons" and "The Da Vinci Code" of him. But I also want to read his other books. I love his spelling style.

Well of course the classics for most of you all stands true for me:

Lord of the Rings and anything from the Tolkien's
Harry Potter series
Most of Stephen King's books
The Narnia Series

Then you have classic classic:
My fav of those would be To Kill a Mockingbird.

I do read some sci-fi but over the years been mainly Star Wars Expanded Universe, etc. I do enjoy some supernatural ones though.

I have to admit though, my favorite genre is very nerdy- historical and biographical. I love World War II books and stuff like that.

Oh and for us Pandorians check out "The Futurist: The Life and Films of James Cameron" I picked it up before Avatar but re-read it after. Great book on his life.

I really enjoy his writing because of his intense research, really makes the book have more depth to it. I know he isnt always 100% accurate and makes some adjustments for his stories, but I still really enjoy them. "Angels and Demons" being my favorite with the anti-matter. Caught my eye with my physics and engineering background

I never read and I don't like it but 2 books I have enjoyed alot are:

The curious incident of the dog in the night time by Mark haddon -very interesting story about a boy with asperger syndrome who decides to write a story about his neighbours dead dog for a writing task. he investigates the incident but discovers more than just who killed the dog.

Got Fight? by Forest Griffin -F***EN FUNNY, Forest Griffin teaches you about what he considers it takes to be a man. Its so ridiculous that you cant stop reading. And it teaches you some tips on fighting

This book shows a young soldier who believed he was fighting for family and country, only to be exposed to the horrors of war. What he and his comrades in arms experienced throughout his accounts left my mind boggled and when I finished the book it left you with a sense of sadness for him, but at the same time, makes you value life that much more. I highly recommend the book, especially for those that have a passion for history.
Books sounds very good. I have added it to my reading list and my cart on Amazong. Thanks.
