I just watched Avatar again for the first time in a year and I was shocked at how much I forgot on how good the movie was. I literally forgot how much I loved Avatar. Anyway, while laying in bed thinking of Avatar I started to reminisce on the romance between Jake and Neytiri. I came to the conclusion that my favorite part was when Neytiri was holding Human Jake. This scene struck me, Neytiri still cared and loved Jake even though he was in his human form. It showed that the love wasn't superficial but that Neytiri loved Jake on all levels (minus the not telling the truth part). I feel a bit embarrassed talking about this stuff as though I just saw the movie for the first time... but anyways. What is your favorite part of the romance?

The very tastefully done love scene between the two of them once they coupled their minds in Tsaheylu.

Their flirty playing with each other on the ikrans.
And of course how Neytiri crouches over Jake and roars whenever he is in trouble

I would say the scene where she is holding Jake, but they are all good

When Jake and Neytiri are in the outpost after the Colonel attacks it. Neytiri holding Jake's face with a caring face is touching.

Exactly, it shows that Neytiri loves Jake no matter his form. It is kind of surprising that Neytiri instantly recognizes and accepts him.

Remember also: "When you see nothing, you will see everything"? (from the eliminated scenes). Often, the feeling is more important than the material 3D 'real' things - 'those you can see, smell or touch' (quoting the Matrix). I know this sounds far-out - but I am a far-out person. ![]() Bottomline, for me this (the climax scene in the shack) is the Best sceneof the whole movie, not only as far as the romance goes. Also this: - 'Dreamhunt' - an eliminated scene, when Grace says: "Jake... do you realize you can Never be with her, not really?" and he replies: "If Quaritch finds out (whatever happened) - I am out. If the people find out - I am dead. Either way, I might never see her again!") - I was Very touched to see this part of Jake, he was determined to do Anything just to see her again. Pity this scene was erased.

You know, I might just agree with you. I think it is the best scene in the movie aswell, though jake opening his eyes at the end is a close second. This scene also serves as a reality check almost. Neytiri is huuuuge compared to Jake. I enjoyed seeing Neytiri and human Jake in the same scene, I can't explain it... It almost seemed even more real.

This might sound wild, but given precisely their difference in size, to me Neytiri looks like Eywa personified in this scene! Well... at least that was my immediate thought. Such overwhelming LOVE! We don't really appreciate how Huge the Na'vi are until we see them close to humans, do we? In Healing Grace scene when human Grace is in Jake's arms, & then lies next to her Avatar body, she looks like a baby! And, stretching my analogy with Eywa (Mother of All) Jake looks like a kid in Neytiri's arms.

Neytiri holding Jake is very motherly looking.

Maybe if you just saw that one scene of her holding Jake. But after the whole movie and their development it become less motherly and more passionate... if that makes sense.

When moonbeam said it seemed motherly I immediately thought the type of love my mom has for me. And that didn't jive well with me as an explanation for the scene.

I say it looked motherly because the way she has Jake in her arms, it looks a little like the Pietà.
