If your father owns a pretty expensive island, he can buy you all this stuff. Oh well.
If you build the hospital you promise, it will even cost you much more, so if you have to get money from participants your $20's will not be enough.

Even if you have animals to hunt you'll have to limit very much your consumption or else you'll have nothing left.
You'll also need to find a solution to the hygiene, since Na'vi don't have toilets with a flush.
We could say lots of things about it.

You'll also need a team made of nobody else than your participants, who will set up all the society with you. Also, abolish the rule of non-return when you'll have the control. Otherwise, yes you hide things and yes it can be a cult.

Lots of questions have to be answered, hence the importance of information meetings.

The secrecy thing adds even more doubt to your theory. Why make a project when people will not know where they're going into? Does the non-return rule mean that there is information everybody else shouldn't know?

Every inch of this planet is owned. You'd have to go to another planet if you truly wanted to start over. If you truly want to know how someone would cope during a catastrophic event where humans had to start over just look at how they react when the electricity goes out. Most people get very anxious and restless. I light a candle and layout the couch thinking about space and distant worlds. One benefit of not having electricity for 5 years as a child is that I learned to occupy myself by living in my mind. Not an easy thing for the many mindless people of today.

Of course it's not the first time, but the thread you mention is a very serious and realistic project. Believe me, I've read lots of their threads on the LearnNa'vi forum. No 8-billion-dollar island, collaboration of the members, lots of raised points, transparency, the opposite of join_the_navi. Probably the same thing for the Blue Moon tribe.
Unfortunately, that project didn't go far, probably because of the time and energy required to prepare it and its bigness.
So when I came across this thread, I knew it was too good to be true.

ahh i see, i havent done as much research as you of course however i could tell that this project was far more legit by a longshot then this email_the_nazi guy, the first thing i noticed is that there was no 'once you join there is no return' stuff. do you happen to know how far they got exactly?
