Beauty: what is it exactly? It is truth as the poet Keats said. It is what inspires us to love as well. There is so much ugliness in this world that when exquisite beauty is put before our eyes, we don't know what to do with it. Some seek to analyze it, codify, and deconstruct it. This is why beautiful buildings and art are not made that much anymore.
To often we are told that beauty can't convey reality. That "reality" can only be gritty, ugly, hateful, full of angst, depressing, crass, and crude. Is this truly reality? Surely this isn't totally reality? Surely beauty is not just real, but more real. Beauty is all around us: the sunrise, the sunset, the song that a bird sings at dawn. The ocean waves as it crashes on the shore. The mountains, the waterfalls. The smile of your loved ones. An exquisite masterpiece of art, music, a scene in a book, or a movie. Beauty is reality. It touches all of our lives in the smallest of ways. It has much more power to touch souls than ugliness does. Just like love which is the most powerful, it can wash away hatred and fear. Choose beauty. Choose love. This will conquer all the hatred and the ugliness in the world.

Beauty I think is physical and emotional. Take the Ometicaya for example, not all of them are the most amazing looking of People, but I say that they are all beautiful; inside. They have beautiful spirits and souls and minds. Totally, beauty is physical as well. Like said, that sunset across the ocean, the mountain range, that painting, that movie, but its also internal. The reason people say reality are those nasty ugly things is because they're not trying to look at the good beautiful things. They have their eyes shut to them.
Once again, wonderful post with beautiful words Rapunzel77 |

. Beauty is both internal and external. It also can be hidden. It is sad that so many people are blind and go through this world with their eyes shut to what is truly beautiful in this world .

There are different kinds of beauty, I think. the beauty of a person (Neytiri!
) is different to a beautiful song, an idea, a place or something else.Internal and external - definitely. All these people who do not See - I just have no interest in them any more. Reality is an interesting way of describing it, I think.

. You can get glimpses of the beauty of the person through their soul, their actions, etc. Of course you can see the beauty around you, from the smallest flower to the highest mountain .As for those who do not "see", there isn't anything that you nor I can do. We can only do what we can and that is to love more and to see the beauty in all things .

I agree rapunzel, beautiful words.
For me, beauty is what you yourself percieve it as. Some people may find beauty in the strangest of places, in a colour or a texture for example. Some people see the beauty in the same concrete 60s tower blocks that others find so hideous. It's all subjective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say...
