Default IMAX withdrawal

I caught the final IMAX showing of Avatar last Thursday, March 25 at the very nice film IMAX at the Indiana State Museum IMAX Theater in Indianapolis. That was a 115 mile 2+ hour drive one-way. I made that drive two other times as well the previous weeks. This followed my nearest digital IMAX dropping it for Alice in Wonderland. I saw it 9 times there, which was a 50 mile, 1 hour drive each way.

I've been watching the IMAX site every day for new theaters to appear. The latest count is 10 in the United States, which is actually an increase. However, the closest one is in Iowa, a 450 mile, 8 hour drive one-way. I know this because I have already calculated directions to it from my house...

I have a job and things to do, I cannot just drop everything and drive 16 hours roundtrip, plus stay for at least a few showings. And yet, I find myself very close to doing so. I really should never have seen it in film IMAX the first time. Absolutely nothing else will do now... I haven't seen the movie in 10 days now and am completely lost. I don't know what to do...

Damn you James Cameron, for making such a life smashing film....
