Exactly, I think the majority of people who saw Avatar thought it was a cool movie or "Wow that was cool" and forgot about it.

It's definitely an experience. It also has many messages. The most powerful I think is the message of connection or the need for connection. Why do we long to be Na'vi? It is perhaps they live simpler lives than we do. They seem to be happier, more free, more trusting of others. Perhaps its because they are connected with each other, with their deity, and with their environment. They didn't lose their connection which we did. It perhaps shines a light on how many of us live and has awakened in us the desire and yearning for something better, something greater. Many of us has expressed the desire to flee this concrete, glass, and steel world which is so cold and leaves one lonely with no connection.
That is what makes Avatar important. It shows that you must have heart and you must love. That is the only way to make this life better.

I feel Avatar is more than simply a form of entertainment as well.
It's a window into what we could be, and what some people aspire to be. I just wish it was possible for our society to move in that direction, sometimes I fear it is too far gone. Not to say I won't or don't try to exemplify these ideals, but it would be nice to see a trend in this direction!

Avatar was never a movie, it was a message and an awakening.
First time I saw Avatar, like many people here, it was just mind-boggling...I didn't know how to deal with it, the 2nd time....Oh boy....PAD hit me straight in the heart. I struggled with it for 2 weeks on my own, before I found AF and all you guys. Everything about Pandora was so beautiful, the Na'vi, Neytiri, Jake...Everything. It was all too much, but talking to all of you guys solved it. I still feel P.A.D, and like HNM, it will never leave me. Oel ngati kameie, ma smukan ulte smuké! <333

The movie is immaterial, the universe and the message are what made this into something we love.
A lot of people who go out of their way to say that it's just a movie have their own... passions that are pretty much the same as this. It's sort of like the Twilight thing, we can bash them all we want, but we are doing the same thing to an extent. And to be honest I don't come to these forums because they are Avatar forums, I come to them because I know that I can hold a deep and intelligent conversation with everyone on them. It's the people I come here for, the medium (although I like it) is not as important.

![]() It's really opened my eyes as to what's out there and what 'goals' everybody is working towards. It's really quite sad how materialistic people are in their quest for fleeting happiness.

You are right avatar is more than a movie it is more than a thrill ride it is a massege to us to human kind we have been killing this planet for to long now. And all we want is money and power but avatar teaches us so much more is shows us corage in the face of death .A will to keep going even if no one elsa will the strength to make change and to do things that would seem almost alien to the ppl around u.I for one have lived my life by the message in that movie and you know what it has served me well. *the hunter raises is fist to the air* we are the ones with nature

Though I agree, but there are also other movies that made me feel similarly. "Not like Avatar" many here would say. But I think, "Mmm... nah. Just like Avatar." |

After watching Avatar here recently about a month or two ago, I've changed to be more one with nature. With our Pandora. When I first saw Avatar in 09 when I was 12, it had no affect on me, but now after four years of not watching it, and seeing it again; I get what is the real message. That we've been killing our earth for WAY to long now, and others aint gonna stop. I love the real message behind Avatar, like Honesty, love, plain sincerity, devotion, truth, lack of prejudges, courage, freedom. Thats what I loved about Avatar along with everything else.

Hmm, interesting. It seems like most people see it once and immediately feel like they've been hit by a train, but your case appears to be the other way around. I wonder how many other people feel the same way.

Late bloomer, I bet it is rare. I saw Avatar and was literally speechless walking out of the theatre.

It's funny how some people just thought it was a good film and nothing else. My mother ain't into things like this but I took her to see Avatar in 3D. She thought it was great and I kinda left it at that knowing she wouldn't be obsessed like me. But then a weird thing happened: I got a "Yes" when I asked if she wanted to go see it again. No posters, no desktop backgrounds, no impulse Avatar item buying, but she did watch it twice so I know it affected her deeper than she would admit. ![]() I love Avatar and it will stay as the #1 EXPERIENCE I have ever.....experienced. |
