Hey TOS members, this is also posted over at AF
I have constructed a few new blogs on my blog. I would appreciate it if you could read it. Here is the link: Spakey's Prerogative Thankyou, P.S: HumanNoMore, you'll hate the Star Trek blog. But sit on it and rotate mate.

hehehe... I think you're wrong on the socialism one too - "The problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other people's money". There is absolutely zero motivation to work, to improve, to innovate, and that is one of the reasons the USSR failed. Capitalism has flaws, yes, but it drives people to innovate, to improve. Researching new methods and technologies isn't free, and socialism doesn't like spending money on such things. I also disagree with space travel under socialism, simply because they wouldn't see a reason for 99% of people to go to space, it won't be like where under capitalism, anyone who can afford it can, which in itself drives prices down and increases accessibility (e.g. air travel)
As for the blog on that Abrams thing, 'unneccessary amount of flak' - I lol'd. Most of the mainstream liked it, which is, I guess, exactly what Abrams wanted to do, make money at the expense of the greatest franchise around. For the storyline, face it, he has no idea of how time travel works, Lost made that obvious enough, and to me, his attempts to explain it off were just insulting. I would have LIKED the storyline if it was set in an original universe, with original ships, locations and characters, but I can't like something that makes all of ST except for ENT non-canon... Does that mean he thinks ENT was good? Because in that case, that's even worse. As for ship design, future ships have been seen by past ones before, it didn't cause massive timeline changes. Anyway, IIRC the USS Kelvin was destroyed directly after being attacked, so what would it matter? The visual effects were nice enough, although I am excluding the lens flare abuse there. As for the acting, I liked Zoe, although had no idea who she was at the time, and Spock was good. For all the new people, I'll just say: meh.

Quote:
As for space travel, one of the first reasons could be for space tourism, then we could start up space mining operations, there are big incentives there. Quote:
Your argument is opinionative.
