Does Anyone Else Want A Motorcycle Now?
Motorcycles are probably the closest thing to Ikran we have on Earth. Does anyone else want one after seeing Avatar?

My dirt bike is my Ikran, while my street bike is more like my Direhorse. If you do decide to get one and you have little experience, be very careful. Like the Pandoran equivalents they are not safe. This was brought to the forefront for me last night when I learned that one of my friends sons was killed in a motorcycle accident yesterday afternoon. He was a 26 year old experienced rider, but broke his neck in a fall. Have fun, but try to be safe.

Sorry to hear that Txen, RIP.
 I was actually considering a BRP Can-Am Spyder. They seem a lot safer, plus they can carry more stuff (they even pull trailers!).

I never even thought of the correlation... My boyfriend has wanted a motorcycle for a while, and i'm MORE than supportive of that endeavor!
Mmm.. sitting on the back, wind through your hair, clutching someone you love? Feels good Man!

YES!!! I have wanted one for a while, but I have no where to store one and my parents hate the idea even though I would pay for it! But yes I definitely want one, I will probably have a track dedicated bike when I a bit older though.

Your mom is 100% correct as it is all the idiots on teh road that are the problem. My folks had a zero tolerance policy when it came to motorcycles. I got slapped if I even thought about it.
All I can say is don't start with a sportbike. If you do the chances are that you will crash hard withing a month or two. I'm mostly a dirt bike or dual port guy, but I did pick up a bike for riding to work and an occasional weekend ride. I got an old bike that had been sitting in someones garage. Between teh bike and fixing it up to be road worthy I only spent about $500. It's a lowly 1980 Honda CM400. It has about 27 thunderous horsepower. It's enough to get he job done and while I don't like to ride the freeway it will do it fine. I have fun riding through the canyons, and I have even embarrassed a 100+ hp sportbike rider. To tell you the truth I don't think I'll ever get a sportbike. I would likely either loose my license or get into a bad accident. You can estimate the danger from the insurance rates. I pay $75/year for three bikes. It would cost me about $600 for a sportbike. A teenager pays about $5000/year fro a sportbike. That tells you that the stats are ugly for a young person and a sportbike. I used to live in the San Fernando valley area of Los Angeles. I didn't get a street bike until I moved out of there. The drivers were crazy. When on a bike you have to watch the car drivers with an eagle eye. If you don't one of them will get you. Last edited by txen; 04-12-2010 at 06:00 AM.

Thats what I kept saying
they just say no you are not riding one of those and getting killed. I think they are more paranoid because my uncle was in a bad wreck on his bike before. I will have one oneday though! Well either that or an insane car oohhh one of the campagna T-rex?

yea thats pretty sweet, but I don't really see me getting a sports bike anytime soon though... I'm more of a car person, but I'd love to have another dirt bike again... they're so fun

Yeah I was wanting to start out with a Ninja 250 until I got my bearings and just ride around town.
One thing that also holds me back though is that I am a HUGE adrenaline junkie, and am afraid that if I got that taste of speed I would want more which is where I refer to my other post that when I am older I will try and get myself a track dedicated bike so I can go as fast as I want without worrying about stupid drivers! Until then I guess Ill stick to cars oh completely off topic but I saw two new monterey blue 370z's at my local nissan today!!! I want one soooooo bad
