Said Davy Jones...
But the topic of death is touchy, because we don't know. Don't know what's beyond the life limit, and fear it with all our soul. But should we fear it? Should we be trying to escape from it with all our strength, until we reach a moment in which we cannot do so anymore? Think on all the medicine tech developed so far; do we have the right to extend our lifetime? Or, on the other hand, shorten it and say who deserves to die? Do we have the right of playing with death? Don't we just actually fear it? Some questions I wanted to throw out since some time ago.

I do not fear it. That being said, I do not WANT to die, I want to live a very long and full life. I simply do not allow the thought of it to control me. This comes from a person who has no real idea what, if anything, will happen when death comes.

Well, in fact, nobody does. At least I don't know anyone who has come back to tell us how does it feel like.

I agree with Zongtseng, I do not want to die, but im not sure that I am actually afraid of it. I have a mindset of when its my time to go it will happen. I believe taking risks is what makes us stronger and helps us learn and thats what I try to do. Living life safe is boring so why not go out and do everything you have always wanted?

I'm thankful life has an end. I'm more afraid of immortality than death.

As others said, I have no wish to die, but I live the "you gotta go when you gotta go" mentality. I know i'll die someday and I accept that.
But isn't that an excuse to live every single day to it's fullest?

I have no idea, I think it's a primal urge to ensure that your physical shell survives so we fear anything that may bring death..If anything I think we fear the unknown of what happens after we die since no one has any concrete knowledge of such an event.
Personally I don't fear death, but I hope I know when it would happen.. Being blindsighted and killed in an accident is the worst thing that could happen..Being alive one minute and dead the next is frightening to think about. I immediately imagine the Na'vi's that were trapped as the Home Tree came down

I'm not afraid. And most here can already name the reason why.

I don't fear it. After all, I won't even know what happened. you don't know when you fall asleep, and you'd never notice if you didn't wake up. Death is like that, except you never notice at all.
I would rather I didn't die, but everything does eventually.

As a two time cancer survivor I have had to face my mortality. At first I was afraid, but one day a particular piece of music touched my soul and I found that I was no longer afraid of death. To this day I am not afraid because I believe my spirit will continue and this life is but part of the journey.

The only thing I'm afraid of concerning death is not being fulfilled with my life... what would people say about me when I'm 6 feet under? That I was a shadow against the wall, not talking to anyone? Or someone always showing love and with a smile on his face? Someone spreading truth. Not showing enough love to my family (of course this includes all of you)
Other than that no I do not fear death |

Maybe my instincts tell me to fear it ,but in general , nah , not really , and since it's inevitable , why should I worry about it ?

People go on and on about ghosts, afterlife, heaven and hell and all that. As for myself, i have always thought of death as being a lot less exiting then most people tend to belive. I don't think anything happens tbh! Your dead, the end! Lights out, curtains down! No heaven or anything, just a neverending sleep!
And if you ask me, thats just fine! After all, whats so bad about not existing ... it's not like you'll ever know about it...

The only thing certain in life is death.
I would think actively trying to prevent it would consume you and make you quite neurotic. You'd probably go paranoid schizophrenic or borderline and thus decrease your quality of life (how sad!) Personally, I'm not afraid of death. The people in my life know that i have boundless love for them ALL the time. I'm very 'me', take me as i am or leave it. I live my life in a way that i wont have regrets if i were to die tomorrow. There is no sense worrying about the inevitable - its going to happen anyway! I dont think we have a right to extend our lifeline either, what good would it serve to live past your time? It's like having the option to live forever... sure it sounds great... but i think there is a reason that forever is hard to comprehend. I might expand on this later... its relevant to my interests!
