This idea still needs to be fleshed out, but the idea is this, we arrange a time and a date when we can all watch avatar in our homes, then access an exclusive irc channel based purely on those who have just watched it, and have fresh memories in their minds, and would like to express the feelings they felt, and the details in the movie they caught up on. Im sure the admin would be most helpful and arrange this with me, the proposed name of the channel is "wake up"

I'm in
![]() Channel has been created (no space as you can't have one in IRC channel names), now we just need to wait for the release!

I have a better idea, Xbox Live party chat. We could have up to 8 people in it.

Awesome idea, but I have a good one too, how about tinychat? It allows webcams and microphones as well then...

I'm not real clear on this, do we start the movie at the same time and chat in real time. Or do we watch it first then get on IRC?

Ok, I'm totally don for this! But I've never used the IRC thing so if someone could explain to me how to get on board with that I'd appreciate it
Xbox live would also possibly work depending on the day, because my younger brother is the one with the xbox lol. And the cam/mic thing might work but I don't have either as of now. However it's going to be done, I'm on board.

I'm so down for it... a video chat would be cool as well but IRC is good as well

Absolutely. Chatting as we watch would... well frankly, I'd be the talkiest person.
Not that I'd normally do so; I'm always completely silent during the film. But we've all seen the movie....I'm just a bit concerned about how I probably won't fit in with anyone, since I disregard the basic message of the film because I disagree with it... |

I'd prefer IRC. There is no user limit and it's available for everyone. I don't have any consoles either so I'd be out of that (plus, a limit of 8 people? fail.)
Tinychat would be ok too, I guess, but I'm not so sure, since people would be using cams/microphones there and that would just get annoying.

That would be great!
I would almost propose setting up a time maybe a day after the release so everyone can watch it and we can have the discussion almost immediately after. I will be doing this either way, personally- I prefer to watch the film on my own without any sort of distraction (God, that was hard in theaters) so I can fully immerse myself in it. Hmmm... I need a 3D t.v...

I just had a vision.
This has already been suggested, but what if we tied this in with this: have our ultimate commentary on the movie while we all watch it. Unfortunately however, not everyone has a microphone. If we were to all use the chat while we watched it'd be fine. Using mics would get things cluttered, as HNM pointed out. But after we'd all had our fun with the live Avatar feed through the chat, anyone who had a mic could have also recorded all of what they said on their computer. Anyone who has a recording could then submit it to a group of people who'd keep in close contact, and edit the best parts into a fan-made audio commentary. Anything that gets left out could be made into a secondary commentary and also posted up for display. Of course, the audio would only make sense if it were played along with the movie... ...which is why I was thinking, after it was edited together, I could edit it into a digital copy of the film on my computer, which could then be posted up on the forum available for download: a digtal copy (in nice quality of course) with our audio commentary edited in. Sound like an idea??? |
