Default Tarot of Spirit

In Tarot we weave and dance through all the 'archetypes' essences and roles, on this cosmic dance of life. Sometimes we are the Father, other times the Mother, or the Brother or Sister of any of the four suits. Also to see the complimentary 'Brother/Sister as the ying/yang within ourselves. Perhaps right now, as the Fall Winds come to blow, this Brother and Sister might be of interest.

Wind Brother: Warrior of Mind

Divinatory Meaning:

You may feel torn between two ideals or ideas
which seem to be of equal weight or value;
go deep within to find the answer -

meditate - you will not ease this conflict
through continual analysis;
if you find your head spinning
with too many ideas,
find a teacher to help you focus.

Interpretation:

Though he has made great progress in his thinking, the Wind Brother may still find himself spinning. There is more than one direction to choose from and he must take the right course of action. He must now integrate all that he has learned. In order to reach a state of integration, serious inward examination in necessary.

The Wind Brother carries out the combined intellectual energy of his parents. He has his 'father's' incredible energy and the potential for his 'mother's' balance. He is the windy part of the intellect, incredibly brilliant, but blowing this way and that.

He is so smart - attuned to the farthest reaches of thinking - that any one of his ideas would be highly successful. But because he has so many ideas, he may have trouble choosing.

Further, his ideas may be very find, but they may be removed from everyday practicality. Therefore he may seem unreachable or unapproachable on a practical level.

He is a Warrior of Mind - developing complicated strategies and intellectual battle plans. He is a theoretician - always on the forefront. In fact, Wind Brother may be on several fronts at once - and brilliant on every one.

The Wind Brother is brave, dashing and domineering. His heart is clean and full of courage. He is quick to defend or to fight, and he is fierce in action, but, if he is not committed to his ideas, he may have no staying power.

In the worst case, he is a pompous boaster who engages in thoughtless action and enjoys a sense of tyranny over the weaker. He may be stormy and out of control. His ideas may reduce air to the most minute geometrical patterns, but he may have no plan for his life.

While he is clever and rational, the overall purpose of his existence may seem clouded and he may even feel indifferent to his own ideas. He will soars to the highest levels and ideals in one moment and, in the next, he crash to the deepest levels of despair. He may prefer the appearance of courage, to the real thing.

In general, the Wind is favorable for the Wind Brother. He needs to count his successes in small matters and solidify his goals. He can come to know himself, and thereby solidify his goals, by looking inward. He needs to look deeply to reconcile that which seems polarized. Holding the thought of dualities keeps him thrashing. He must understand that the physical is contained within the spiritual. There is no duality. There is no contradiction.

A visit to a Master Teacher could be a great deal of help at this time. The teacher will reiterate the Wind Brother's spiritual, intellectual and physical successes and help him to formulate immediate and long-term goals. The teacher knows that Wind Brother is forever in the process of becoming.

Card Symbology:

The highest commitment of the Wind Brother is to the universal mind. Therefore, he can appear to be totally ungrounded. He may seem to be slashing in the air.

He appears as dead, because he is changing. He represents not only the 'corpse' that 'analysis presupposes', but the eternal connection with spirit. He is a skeleton, because he can choose his own 'skin' by way of his level of attunement and his pattern of thinking. The skeleton is merely his brilliant capacity. He transforms himself into that which he understands.

Wind Brother requires the balancing aspects of Fire (spirit), Water (emotions) and Earth (matter) in order to become whole and move to his greatest productivity. To understand the importance, or lack thereof, in what he attempting to accomplish, he must become more attuned to the results of his thought pattern both on the spiritual and physical planes.

The energy of the card demonstrates movement and power. Such force can be used in a highly positive manner. Wind Brother represents not only the movement of the analytical process at its highest velocity, but also the potential insight to transcend old forms of analysis. Wind Brother has the intellectual capacity to tune into the deepest levels of the universal mind. The Wind Brother does not just slash the Wind. He is slicing a portal into the realms of the dark layers of his own subconscious mind. He is ready to confront his own intellectual process in order to move to a higher level of thinking which will better benefit humanity and afford a deep and harmonious internal satisfaction. He is moving toward a new level of spiritual commitment.

Wind Sister: Truth

Divinatory Meaning:

The truth has risen to the surface;
you may feel that you are engaged in battle;
you may feel that you are fighting
against traditional notions or values;
this is not an easy time
but your ideas are correct;
stick to your convictions and you will
eventually know victory.

Interpretation:

The Wind Sister has recognized Truth within. The Truth has not resulted from Imprinting, Parroting, Social Conditioning, Ego Reification, Clever Demonstration, or Spinning Intellectual Thoughts. Truth represents the Intellect in its original form. It is Truth based on the highest conscience. The Wind Sister acts on this truth, applies it to her life.

The Wind Sister is the priestess of Idea: idea materialized, idea taking form in the physical world. She has tremendous follow through ability because she has balanced the dark and light forces within.

She represents the stabilization of that which is volatile in the intellectual realm. She stabilizes through recognizing her own pure and original intellect which she has learned to separate from intellectual games. In such games, one learns to mimic or parrot, or to respond cleverly i order to meet social expectations. Wind Sister has been through these games and has outgrown them. She is an original thinker and thus she is the greatest manifestation of the intellect. As such, she wields an awesome power on Earth.

Usually, Wind Sister is wise and dextrous. She is a great diplomat. She can mediate effectively and settle controversies. This is because she is continually aware of her own conscience, which is her guiding principle, and therefore aligned with original Truth. This is the the secret of her thought process.

Wind Sister has a lofty spirit. Her spirit is free because she is aligned with the cosmic will. Her spirit is light because she acts according to the dictates of her conscience. She knows that she must follow her own bent, wherever it leads her. If it leads her into the dominant culture, she will be its greatest defender. If it leads her into the counterculture, she will likewise 'defend it to the hilt.' She is ready to charge in and defend her ideas, and she will be listened to. What she says rings of Truth.

If her ideas go against the status quo, she may be regarded as the Princess of Trouble Brewing, or the Daughter of Rough Terrain. But, because she is so articulate, and well-loved, she will almost always be successful, if she sticks to her ideas.

In the best case, she has fresh intellectual clarity and will be followed by many. If she gets off her original track, she may be stern and revengeful - rebellious - and her logic may become destructive. This only occurs when she gives into her frustration. sometimes she cannot understand why the world seems so blind. If she feels this way, she needs to turn inward to examine the roots of her rebellion.

The challenge for Wind Sister is to start at the beginning, remain true to her Self, and build upon that Truth diligently. Freedom from anxiety comes from following one's own path with a great fervor. The wise one, starting from small things, accumulates a great heap of merit.

Card Symbology:

Wind Sister has freed the pent-up butterflies of immortality and transformation. These butterflies were trapped at the Four of Wind by the intellectual processes of social convention. In order to free creativity, and thus the immortality represented by the butterflies, Wind Sister had to effectively combine messages from the subconscious and the higher consciousness and attune to her conscience. She has moved through all the Seven Veils of Intellect: Imprinting, Parroting, Social Conditioning, the Clever Show, Ego Reification, Spinning Intellect and Massive Confusion to the original intellect. She has apprehended the universal mind. Becoming attuned to the the original intellect has taken a great deal of inner strength.

Now Wind Sister slashes her own opening through the portal of thought to the material plane. Her sword points to the One of Earth. This indicates that the intellectual fervor is coming to rest and now there is a chance for successful creativity. Creating successfully entails attuning to the universal mind and applying the lessons learned there to everyday life.

... because he has so many ideas, he may have trouble choosing.
